John was elected as a Board Member of the London Metal Exchange and served as Chairman of its Ecommerce Committee between 2002-2004 and is widely acknowledged for establishing the LME electronic trading platform. He was Head of Commodity Ecommerce for Barclays Capital in London from 2004-2007. He moved to Hong Kong in 2008 as Head of Metals Hong Kong for Newedge, where he designed and implemented the first futures arbitrage trading platform connecting both the international and the Chinese markets. He was then appointed Managing Director and Head of Commodity Futures of Jefferies Hong Kong. John and Tiger jointly founded BANDS in October 2015.
Tiger started his career in China’s State Reserve Bureau, leaving to join Sempra Metals, a subsidiary of Sempra Energy. He founded CITIC Newedge Futures in 2008, one of only three Sino-foreign futures joint ventures in China at the time. Before establishing BANDS, Tiger held several senior positions in international financial institutions, including Managing Director and Head of Commodity Futures for Jefferies in Asia and Head of Metals for Newedge in Asia. Tiger and John Browning jointly founded BANDS in October 2015. In 2020 Tiger was invited to join the User Committee of the London Metal Exchange where he hopes to voice the interests of the metals trading community particularly from an Asian perspective.
