Asia-Centric, Global Outlook

BANDS Financial is a Hong Kong-based commodity and financial futures broker providing market access to corporate and institutional clients across the globe. Combining extensive international market expertise with leading Chinese market access, we serve a diverse range of clients on all major exchanges.

2015

An Opportunity Emerges

Tiger Shi and John Browning found BANDS in Hong Kong after identifying the arbitrage space that would emerge following the Chinese government's commitment to “high-speed opening up”.

2018

China's Exchanges Internationalise

The launch of the Overseas Intermediary (OI) mechanism marks the beginning of the opening up of the Chinese futures market. BANDS is among the first international brokers to offer this service.

2020

A New Dynamic

COVID-19 causes WTI prices to go negative. Shanghai prices remain at $31 and create a major arbitrage opportunity, catalysing interest in Chinese market access and driving the development of an independent price dynamic in China.

2021

Leading the Way

BANDS becomes the first operational Overseas Special Brokerage Participant (OSBP) on the INE, providing direct trading access to the exchange and executing in its own name.

2022

Managing Volatility

While a new COVID wave shuts down Shanghai, a nickel short squeeze causes chaos in the international market. BANDS manages the market volatility without incident, allowing clients to take advantage of arbitrage opportunities along the way and driving record trading volume.

BANDS wins Best Non-Bank FCM at the Asia Capital Markets Awards 2022.

2023

Gaining Momentum

China's exchanges open up a number of new agricultural products to international market participants, doubling the number of available futures and options contracts.

BANDS receives the SGX Top FX Derivatives Broker Award and is the first overseas exchange member to make it into the INE Top 20 Brokers List.

2024

Setting Sail

BANDS is selected as the SHFE's first overseas Industrial and Financial Service Base in recognition of its work to introduce the newly launched INE EC container freight futures contract to the industry.

BANDS wins the INE Outstanding Market Contribution Award for a fourth consecutive year.
